Fishing has been a feature of life on the Holderness Coast for thousands of years. Today, the successful, sustainable fishing industry in Withernsea is one the East Coast’s best-kept secrets.
Through the Fishing Heritage of Withernsea project, young people at the local primary and high schools were invited to create short films about the history of their town.
This website is designed to support teacher wishing to run similar projects. It contains teachers’ notes with background information on the fishing heritage of Withernsea, an overview of the project with a project evaluation and detailed lesson plan. The resources will be useful to those wishing to use tablets to create films about the fishing heritage of Withernsea or to use to support young people in a local study on the heritage of their communities.
